A successful railing project begins with accurate measurements, a clearly selected design and properly defined mounting conditions. Precision Fabshop works with general contractors, builders, remodelers, architects, property owners and project teams that need custom steel railings fabricated for a specific space.
We fabricate railing systems from project drawings, approved designs, field measurements and clearly defined customer selections. Depending on the project, our scope may include shop fabrication, delivery, field fitting, anchoring, welding, bolting, installation and finish touch-up.
Handrails and guardrails serve different purposes and may be subject to different project requirements. The required height, spacing, profile, mounting method, connection details and infill system must be established by the approved plans and applicable project requirements.

Precision Fabshop fabricates custom rail systems to match the project layout, selected appearance, mounting conditions and intended use.
Available styles and configurations may include:
Final materials, member sizes, infill, post spacing, attachment details and finishes are determined by the approved design and defined project scope.
Every project is reviewed according to its location, intended use, drawings, measurements, mounting surfaces, finish requirements and requested installation scope.

A handrail is designed to provide a graspable surface along stairs, ramps or walking areas. A guardrail is a protective barrier used along an open side, elevated surface, stair landing, balcony, deck, mezzanine or similar location. Some projects require both a handrail and a guardrail within the same assembly.
Railing infill refers to the material installed between the posts and framing. Depending on the approved design, infill may include horizontal steel members, vertical pickets, cable or glass.
Precision Fabshop does not assume code requirements, structural loads or connection designs that are not identified in the project information. Required dimensions and performance criteria should come from the approved project documents or appropriate licensed professional.
Cable and glass railing systems can create a clean, open appearance, but they require accurate framing, consistent post placement and clearly defined component requirements. Cable, glass, specialty fittings, mounting hardware and finish materials are included only when specifically identified in the proposal. Final glass specifications, cable components and code-related details must be confirmed before fabrication.
For cable railing projects, our scope may include:
For glass railing projects, our scope may include:
Cable, glass, hardware and specialty components are not automatically included. The proposal should identify who is supplying and installing each part of the completed railing system.

Accurate handrail and guardrail fabrication requires complete measurements and clearly defined mounting conditions. We can work from approved architectural drawings, structural drawings, shop drawings, field measurements or a combination of project documents and verified site information.
Project information should identify:
Rough measurements and photographs may be sufficient for an initial budget discussion, but final fabrication dimensions must be verified before production.
When engineering or sealed drawings are required, Precision Fabshop can coordinate with a third-party licensed engineer. Engineering is not represented as an in-house service.
Handrails and guardrails can be fabricated from square tubing, rectangular tubing, round tubing, structural pipe, flat bar, plate and other project-specified steel materials.
Available finishes depend on the project and may include:
Exterior railings require a finish selected for their exposure and maintenance expectations. Finish requirements should be confirmed before pricing because coatings can affect fabrication details, venting, drainage, handling, transportation and production time.
Color selection, gloss level, texture and specialty coating requirements should be identified before the project enters finishing.
Send drawings, photographs, rough measurements, design preferences, project location, finish requirements and requested schedule.
We identify the railing type, overall layout, materials, infill, mounting conditions, fabrication requirements, finish and requested installation services.
Final dimensions are confirmed from approved drawings, verified field measurements or both. The supporting construction must be ready and accessible when final measurements are taken.
The proposal identifies the materials, fabrication, finish, delivery, installation and specialty components included in the quoted work.
Material is cut, prepared, laid out, fitted and welded according to the approved dimensions and project details.
Completed railings are cleaned and prepared for the selected primer, paint, galvanizing, powder coating or other specified finish.
When included, completed railing sections are delivered, positioned, aligned and attached using the approved mounting method.
Installation may include field fit-up, connection welding, bolting, finish touch-up and other final adjustments included in the proposal.
Providing complete information helps us understand the layout and prepare accurate pricing. Send the following whenever available:
If you do not have complete drawings, send clear photographs and the measurements you currently have. We will identify what additional information is needed before final pricing or fabrication.
